Mary Steffek Blaske

Mary Steffek Blaske is the A2SOs Executive Director. Her responsibilities include fundraising, marketing, concert public relations, concert-related educational programs, and concert production as well as overseeing A2SO staff in the execution of these activities. Ms. Steffek Blaske is a highly skilled director with over twenty years of managerial experience as well as an extensive musical background as a performer and through work with the University Musical Society and other community musical events.

 

Lori Zupan

Lori Zupan is responsible for tracking and managing the Symphonys finances, as well as coordinating ticket sales and concert production. She has been on staff the longest, having joined A2SO administration in 1988. Ms. Zupan has been an active board member of various arts organizations since 1980, and is herself an accomplished musician. Her organizational talents, enviable aptitude for figures, and deep involvement and experience in the arts make her an invaluable part of the A2SO.

Laura Dunbar

Laura oversees all A2SO Education Programs and community concert series serving an annual audience of over 35,000.  

Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (voice) from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, New York.  While in Rochester, Laura served as the Youth Choir Director at St. Paulís Episcopal Church, Music Education Director at Rochesterís Camp Arts Alive, and Soprano in the Schola Cantorum of Chirst Church, Rochester.  Before joining the A2SO, Laura spent an interim year at the Cathedral Choir School of Metropolitan Detroit as Marketing and Development Associate, Assistant Conductor, Vocal Coach, and Soprano Section Leader.  She continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Cathedral Choir School and recently joined the Board of Directors of the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts.  Laura lives in Ypsilanti with her fiance, a PhD Candidate in Music Theory at the University of Michigan.  They maintain an active performance schedule as section leaders of the choirs at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit.
 

 

 

Jeff Zupan

Jeff is the "ultimate utility infielder" - whatever needs doing, he does. For starters, he is usually the first contact when you call in or drop by. Along with helping anyone who needs it, he is primarily concerned with ticket sales, direct mailings, and keeping the computer systems functioning smoothly

 

Gregg Emerson Powell

Personnel Manager

Gregg Emerson Powell oversees Personnel Management for the A2SO. He has a BA in Psychology and Economics from U-M. After graduating, Gregg convinced world-famous double bass teacher Lawrence Hurst to take him on as a student after only a year of lessons, and the rest is history. Gregg plays Principal Bass in the A2SO and is a member of the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Chamber Symphony Orchestra, and Michigan Sinfonietta.

 

Tom "Kit" Weber

As librarian, Kit is responsible for acquiring, organizing, editing, and distributing all of the sheet music the Symphony plays. Kit Weber has a Bachelor's of Music from Illinois State University and a Master in Music Performance from the University of Michigan. In addition to playing French Horn with the A²SO and several other regional orchestras, he served as Library Assistant for the UM Ensembles Library, Orchestra Manager for UM's University Symphony Orchestra and Library Assistant for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

 

Maureen Conroy

Maureen Conroy joined the Ann Arbor Symphony Staff as Co-Librarian in the Fall of 2009. Maureen holds two French horn performance degrees, a Bachelors of Music from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Masters of Music from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In addition to working in the A2SO library, Maureen holds the position of Assistant Librarian with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She has also held the position of Librarian for the Aspen Chamber Symphony at the Aspen Music Festival and School for 2009 and 2010 summer seasons. Maureen lives in Detroit with her husband, Kit Weber.
