Youth Concerts

Each year, nearly 5,000 students attend Youth Concerts at the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Open to public, private and home schools, these concerts offer a comprehensive educational experience that enriches in-school learning. Hill Auditorium presents a most unique classroom, where special performances by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra combine the thrill of live music with key educational concepts. Participating teachers receive access to a resource materials which include lesson plans, music selections, and a CD of all music to be performed. The programs are geared toward elementary grades three through five and meets all state and local academic standards, lending themselves to integration with other curriculum areas, such as language arts and social studies.

You don’t need a passport, just buckle up for a wonderful, whirlwind tour of music around the world. Students will learn about the world and their global neighbors through the international language of music, and how it sounds both different and similar from country to country. While each culture has its own ideas about music, many of those ideas have been shared and assimilated into the music of other cultures. Bon voyage! A World of Music is now boarding!
