Chamber Concerts are held at the Jewish Community Center, located at 2935 Birch Hollow Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 (Stone School Road, North of I-94 bridge). See the map below for details.

Free, additional parking is available at Spruce Knob Apartments.

What are Chamber Concerts?

A.

Wind, string, and brass soloists and ensembles combine programs to include freshly minted pieces along with time-honored classics.

Open to listeners of all ages.We welcome buses or groups to drop off/pick up at the front door.

What is seating like?

A.

General seating at our Chamber Recital series is a comfortable cabaret style. This unique concert setting includes dessert refreshments at each table with a coffee and tea area available at 1:00pm and during the recital.

What instruments are in the orchestra?

A.

While the number of musicians required may vary from piece to piece, the orchestra always breaks down into four basic families.

The String Family: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, and Harp
The Woodwind Family: Flute, Piccolo, Clarinet, Oboe, English Horn, and Bassoon
The Brass Family: Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, and Tuba
The Percussion Family: Timpani or Kettle Drum; Snare and Bass Drum, Cymbal, Triangle, Xylophone, and Piano

I can’t attend the concert?

A.

Call us at (734) 994-4801 up to 1 hour before the concert and we can exchange your tickets for another concert this season. If you don’t know which one yet that’s fine. Just let us know when you decide, or you can convert your tickets into a tax-deductible contribution to your A2SO.

What if I show up late?

A.

We try our best to accommodate unanticipated delays, and for the most part we start on time. If you can’t make it, don’t fret. You are welcome to wait, in the lobby just outside the house doors until a seating break or after the first piece, at which time a helpful usher will be happy to show you to your seat.

Need a little extra help?

A.

If you need a little extra assistance, we are happy to help. There is wheelchair access to the Michigan Theater and Bethlehem Church, as well as wheelchair seating on the main floor. Please call (734) 994-4801 for more information regarding accessible seating options.

You know your tickets are at Will Call, but what does that actually mean?

Michigan Theater: Proceed directly into the first lobby where you will find helpful A2SO volunteers at a table with your tickets. No need to stop at the outside ticket windows.

Bethlehem Church of Christ: Will Call table is located outside the sanctuary doors, in the vestibule.

Program lengths vary, but our family concerts last a little over an hour, without an intermission.

Which venue do I go to?

Please check your tickets to see at which venue the concert is located. The October and March concerts will be at the Michigan Theater (603 E. Liberty Street). The Sing-Along with Santa concert is at Bethlehem United Church of Christ (423 S. Fourth Ave). There are no performances at the A2SO Office.

Join in the family-friendly fun with our community partners from 2:30-3:30pm. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to be comfortably seated and settled in before your concert experience begins. Family concerts begin at 4:00pm.

How should I dress?

A.

These are Ann Arbor family concerts, so dress in whatever makes your family happy. It can be church clothes or play clothes, Disney costume or your little one’s own sartorial decision! Please refrain from applying any perfumes or colognes, as many people are allergic.

How should I dress?

A.

This is Ann Arbor, so concertgoers usually dress in suits, little black dresses, vests, sweaters, skirts, khakis, slacks, or jeans. Formal attire such as tuxedos and evening gowns are reserved for special events. Please refrain from applying any perfumes or colognes, as many people are allergic to fragrances.

Your Saturday night begins at 7:00pm with a free Pre-Concert Lecture. Conductor Lipsky and featured guests present a captivating, fun, educational, and engaging talk about the evening’s music. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to be comfortably seated and settled in before your concert experience begins. Mainstage and Holiday Pops concerts begin at 8:00pm.
