Sarah Ruddy is responsible for developing and implementing the education and community engagement programs of the A2SO, including Youth Concerts, Instrument Petting Zoos, in-school programs, KinderConcerts, Taste of Music events, and Chamber concerts. Sarah joined the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra as Music Librarian in 2012. She took on the role of Education Coordinator in 2013 and moved into her current role in 2015. Sarah previously served as Librarian for the West Michigan Symphony, where she also managed the West Michigan Youth Symphony. She holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from Washington University in Saint Louis, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Loyola University New Orleans. Sarah has taught music at most grade levels, from preschool through college, including Music History, World Music and Music Theory at Washington University and Grand Valley State University. She has also published and presented papers on issues of gender in the sacred music of nineteenth-century Paris. Sarah’s other job is mom to her daughter Ella.
